Beyond Commercial Earns Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) and Woman-Owned Small Business (WOSB) Certifications

Maitland, FL, November 12, 2020: Beyond Commercial, a commercial real estate firm headquartered in Maitland, founded by Amy Calandrino, CCIM, has earned the Woman Owned Small Business Certification (WOSB), which is designed to authorize government contracting officers to reserve specific contracts for the benefit of WOSBs. The Federal Government must award five percent, roughly $25 billion, of its Prime and Subcontracting budget to WOSBs according to the U.S. Small Business Administration.

For a business to earn WBE designation, it must undergo a meticulous process in which the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council performs an in-depth review of the entity and site inspection. During the certification process, documents must confirm that the business is at least 51% owned, operated, and controlled by a woman or women — criteria that Beyond Commercial meets.

Over the past few months, we have been fine-tuning our strategy to attract and complete deals in the government contracting arena, and I strongly believe this certification will place our firm in a better position to achieve that,” said Calandrino. “And to be quite frank, the Women’s Business Enterprise designation will allow our firm a greater chance to compete and create more opportunities for women within this industry. We are now one of, if not the only, women-run commercial real estate firm in the greater Orlando area.”

According to a 2019 article published by the New York Times, women occupy more than 40 percent of all positions in commercial real estate worldwide. Today, women in CRE have a plethora of avenues for their respective careers; as a result, Beyond Commercial seeks to reinforce a culture where women can thrive and grow.
